A Memorial Tribute Celebrating the life and legacy of Todd Baugh will be held July 19 at Noon at Levo Gym in RIverside, Mo. All who were touched by Todd are encouraged to attend. The tribute will include family, friends, and of course, the kids that Todd had an impact on either in the classroom or on the court. The north floor of the Gym will be dedicated in name to Todd Baugh.

Team Excel Benefit Golf Tournament Rescheduled for Monday, August 11, 2008 at the Duece at the National Golf Club in Parkville, Missouri.  Player check in begins at 10:00 a.m., chipping and putting contests beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Lunch provided followed by the shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. The tournament will be played in teams of four and a signup form is located below. Don’t have four? No worries! The Sign Up Form below will allow you to register for 1 to 4 players at a time. Individual entries are very much welcomed and will be placed on a four-man team!

Team Excel has named two coaches to carry on the coaching responsibilities for the 2008 season.

First, Marvell Reid, who served as coach during the 2007 season, will continue to assist with the coaching responsibilities this season. Marvell is a graduate of Wichita State University where he was a student athlete in track and field. Marvell has coached both girls and boy competitive and recreational basketball for 5 years. This is his second season coaching with the Team Excel AAU Basketball Team. In addition to coaching and working with young people, Marvell’s interests inlcude balancing time with his family, his faith and his work. Marvell enjoys camping, fishing, personal fitness and, of course, competing. He and his wife Catherine have 2 children.

Carl Gerlach joins the coaching staff in his first year with Team Excel. Carl attended Kansas State University where he earned a degree in Business. He played basketball for the Wildcats for 4 years under Jack Hartman. Carl has been involved in coaching both girls and boys basketball for 15 years. Carl and his wife Jill have three children.

The Team Excel Golf Tournament to be held on June 30th 2008 has been postponed due to the passing of Coach Todd Baugh. Please come back later for additional details and information.

Todd Baugh, the inspiration and leader of Team Excel, passed away this morning at KU Med Center.  “On behalf of Todd and his family, I want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers over this difficult period”, said Randy Meek, Executive Director.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 29.  The funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 30.  Both services will be held at the Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson, Kansas located at 1219 N Main Street.

Todd’s family has requested than any donations that anyone would like to make go to Team Excel.  As always with Todd, he will continue to look out for his girls. 

“Knowing Todd for the past 6 years, he would expect his mourning to be brief and the celebration of his legacy to live on”, said Randy.  To that end, there will be a celebration of Todd’s life and a dedication of the court at Levo Gym located next to Argosy Casino in Riverside, Missouri on Saturday, July 19.  Please save this date for this tribute to Todd.  More details will be posted on the website soon. 

Back in March of this year when Todd was in the middle of his battle with cancer, “Todd told me God had another calling for him.  I hope Todd’s family, the Team Excel family and all the girls Todd touched and their parents can join us on July 19 as we celebrate the good work he did here on earth”, Randy said.

Team Excel headed to Chicago with a 10-3 record and return with a 14-3 record winning all 4 games. On Saturday the team was bushy eyed and full of excitement awaiting the start of the Windy City tournament.

By the end of the first day of play with 3 wins under their belts the team was a little more subdued resulting from the intensity of each game, ending the first day of play at 11pm. The first win came against the IL-lady Fire 47-36, the second win came against IL-Renegades 57-26, the third win came against OH-MBA Warriors 51-35 and the forth and final win came Sunday morning against MO-Phon 46-30.

The players, parents and friends of Team Excel hosted a benefit celebration for Coach Todd Baugh at the home of former player Katie Gates. The party was a huge success with over 100 people in attendance. Coach Baugh’s family, friends and Team Excel family attended from as far away as Houston, Texas.
